After the first load of dolls was brought to the Museum's Research and Collections Center in Springfield, the registrar had some time to review the packing strategy as she unwrapped the dolls. She began removing layers—first the bubble wrap, then the hard tissue, then the soft. Peeling back the last fold of tissue, her breathing relaxed: not a single doll had suffered damage. The methods worked equally well in all of the remaining transfers.
