The registrar could repair some of the dolls' clothing herself, making her own modern stitches different from the other seams so they would not be mistaken as original. She sifted through the costumes in the collection and matched many with the dolls. The owner had collected yards of old fabric over the years which could be used to make appropriate outfits for dolls that had none of their own. Soon the registrar would be preparing the dolls for a preview exhibit, and they had to be properly dressed for the occasion.
