    As far as I know, alpha channels are not part of the AVI specification. If you need alpha functionality, render your images to RGBA TGA files.

    2 - Can I make animations longer than 10 seconds?

    Look for the button labeled 'End: 250' in the DisplayButtons F10. The button specifies the last frame of your animation (at 25 frames per second 250 frames equals 10 seconds). Shift click the button to manually enter the last frame number or click and drag the button to change its value.
