To play back Blender's AVI files in the Windows Media Player, download this file:
https://members.yourlink.net/gruff/filez/jpeg_avi_codec.zip
Unzip and right click on either .inf file (mmx or no-mmx). Choose 'Install' from the Pop-Up menu, then restart. Windows Media Player will Natively handle the Blender AVI-Jpeg Format!
Editors note:
Also there are freely available conversion packages, to convert AVI to MPG.
This is a handy little utility.

Blender supports Adobe Type 1 fonts. You can use the Elefont software, made by Armanisoft, to create 3D text with TrueType fonts and save it as a DXF file, which you can load with Blender.
You can download the software here:

3dto3d can do this - check out https://www.stmuc.com/thbaier/. Use this free program to convert your object to VRML or DXF and load these into Blender.
