2 - How do I quit Blender?

Select Quit from the File menu or press Q.

3 - I can't change views with the NUMPAD keys

If you're working under Windows, make sure that NUMLOCk is on.

When working under X-Windows, make sure you have properly configured your system to work with the numeric keypad (AND make sure that NUMLOCK is on ;-)
