First of all, you must know how to reproduce your problem. If you do, please post a message in the Bugs discussion group stating at least:
- which version of blender you are using
- which operating system you are running
- what 3D graphics card you are using
- what actions are needed to reproduce your problem
Sometimes your problem only occurs with a specific blender file. Please make your file available online so others can take a look at it. If you can't make your file available online you can always mail your file to users requesting it.
If your bug is an official bug, you'll get a response from one of the developers at NaN. In this message we'll include a line with your e-mail address and a short description of your problem. You can look at the release notes that are published with each new version of blender to check if your bug is fixed in that release.

If you try to play a game in Blender 2.12 and it crashes, deselect the option 'Vertex Arrays' in the Game menu before you press P. This should fix it.

Blender occasionaly crashes when generating thumbnails from images. This can be caused by:
- a file that Blender thinks is an image, but actually isn't
- an image file that is corrupted
- disk corruption
Try to identify the file that's causing the crash and please send a copy to bugs@blender.nl describing your problem.
If the crash is caused by disk corruption, run chkdsk (Windows) or fsck (Unix) or some other disk repair program.
If you don't need the thumbnails, you can also use the small grey unlabeled fileselect button next to most imageselect buttons.

I encountered this issue when using Blender 2.12. When creating a new texture, selecting Image for this texture and clicking on Load Images blender would crash of there was an incompatible AVI in the default texture directory. Blender would display all of the image thumbnails properly until it reached the AVI file, at which point it would cause an access violation. The call stack did not contain anything except Blender.exe, i.e, no graphics driver dlls. The workaround I used to fix this was to move all of the AVIs out of the default texture directory. Then, everything worked fine.

On some graphics cards blender crashes when you press the Render button or press the F12 key. Blender tries to open an extra window to display the image it's rendering.
Other card crash when you try to close that render window either by pressing Escape or the F11 key.
If this happens to you, you can disable Blender opening an extra window by activating the DispView button in the Display buttons (F10) before you start your rendering.

This is normal behavior for Microsoft Windows :-)
On a more serious note, this is almost always due to problems with the drivers of your videocard. Please search for 'video problems' to get more information.
