Spartina pectinata (Prairie Cord Grass)
Prairie Cord Grass has many sharp edges; the long leaves (up to 4 feet long by 1/2" wide) have rough edges and pointy tips; the branched flower cluster has bristly individual flowers with scaly bracts with awns. The plant grows to ten feet tall in wet and moist prairies, along streams, and in low, wet areas. It flowers from midsummer into early fall.
