Spartina pectinata (Prairie Cord Grass)
Prairie Cord Grass grows to ten feet tall in wet prairies and marsh areas, and near streams in upland prairies. It blooms from midsummer to early fall. The rough-edged leaves can reach four feet long; they are 1/2 inch wide and taper to points, as this specimen shows very clearly.
