Senecio plattensis (Ragwort)
Ragwort grows in dry upland praries and sandy areas. It grows to two feet tall. This specimen shows the lobed and toothed, stalked basal leaves and the small lobed stem leaves. The plant has white patches of hairs on the leaves and flowers. Each flower head has 6-15 yellow ray flowers around a yellow-orange disk. Flowers cluster in groups of 10-20 in a flat cluster at the top of stems. Flowering season is from midspring to early summer.
