Physostegia virginiana (Obedient Plant)
Obedient Plant's name comes from the fact the you can position the blooms at different angles around the stem and they will stay. Obedient Plant grows in wet to mesic prairies and uplands. Plants grow up to four feet tall. This specimen shows the toothed, opposite leaves. Each flower cluster blooms from the bottom up. Each pink or lavender flower is a tubular corolla up to an inch long, on a cup-shaped calyx.
