Monarda fistulosa (Wild Bergamot)
The name Bergamot refers to a citrus-like frangrance. This specimen of Wild Bergamot shows how the plant branches at the base of pairs of opposite leaves to form the flower stalks. It also shows the long threadlike stamens that protrude from the tubular corollas that form the lavender flowers.
