Lespedeza capitata (Bush Clover)
This specimen demonstrates the height (up to 6") that this plant grows. It is found in dry and sandy prairies. The alternate leaves are each composed of three leaflets. The silvery color of this specimen's leaves is caused by the presence of silky hairs on the surface. The flowers form rounded heads on bracts. Each creamy-white flower is about 1/2" long with an upper petal and two side petals. Flowering occurs from midsummer to fall.
