Leptoloma cognatum (Fall Witch Grass)
Fall Witch Grass grows in dry, sandy prairies to a height of from one to two and a half feet. The upper third of the plant branches fully into a pannicle that carries individual flowers and seeds. This breaks off to form a tumbleweed. It flowers in the autumn.
