Helianthus pauciflorus (Stiff Sunflower)
This specimen of Stiff Sunflower shows clearly the widely spaced pointed opposite leaves, delicate stem and root system. This species grows in dry prairies and savannas. The flower heads are from 2 to 4 inches wide, and bloom from midsummer to fall.
