Helianthus grosseserratus (Sawtooth Sunflower)
Sawtooth Sunflower is common in dry to wet prairies and pastures. Plants range from 2 to 6 feet tall and grow in colonies. Leaves may reach 8 inches in length and 2 inches in width. The undersides of the leaves are hairy. Sawtooth Sunflower blooms from midsummer to fall. The flower heads are on stalks and branch tips. Each head consists of 10 to 20 bright yellow ray flowers surrounding a dark yellow disk. Flower heads are from 2 to 3 inches in diameter.
