Eupatorium altissimum (Tall Boneset)
Tall Boneset is common in dry upland prairies and disturbed areas. The plant grows from three to six feet tall. It has hairy stems that branch to form the flower heads. Opposite leaves can grow to five inches in length and about 1 1/3 inches in width. They have three lengthwise veins. Tiny 1/8" flowers consist of five tubular disk flowers surrounded by green and white bracts. Two thin white styles protrude from each flower. Blooming season is from late summer to fall.
