Desmodium illinoense (Illinois Tick Trefoil)
This specimen clearly shows examples of the compound leaves made up of three stalked leaflets. It also shows a flower stalk and a stalk of seed pods. Illinois Tick Trefoil grows commonly in upland prairies and pastures. Leaves and stems are hairy and stick to passersby. Each flower has an upper petal and two side petals, all pink. Fruits are segmented hairy pods.
