Asclepias verticillata (Whorled Milkweed)
This specimen of Whorled Milkweed shows clearly the four narrow leaves coming out of each point along the stem. The flower clusters have ten to twenty flowers at the top of the stems. Petals are greenish. They appear in late spring to summer. Whorled Milkweed grows in dry prairies and pastures.
