In art, imagery which is either
- Taken from a realistic subject and is exaggerated or simplified to varying
degrees to enhance the expressive quality or formal elements.

- Imagery that seeks to represent that which is inherently non-visual. Art of
this kind is called pure abstraction and allows the viewer to contemplate
