Beaded Box
circa 1920-1930
11.3cm x 14.3cm x 13cm
Gift of Mrs. C.W.H. Schuck
This beaded, trade cloth-covered and lined fiber box was collected at Lac du Flambeau, Wisconsin on the (Ojibwa) Chippewa Reservation. The exterior is completely covered with floral and geometric motifs in loomed seed beads of red, blue (3 shades), green, gold, metallic, mustard, and white. It has two beaded handles (not shown), which may indicate it was made as a woman's purse (rear view).
