Hine's Emerald Dragonfly
Incorrect. Hine's emerald dragonfly (scientific name Somatochlora hineana) is not the State Insect of Illinois.
This rare dragonfly is found only in small areas of northern Illinois and in Door County, Wisconsin. Like other dragonflies, it has an aquatic larva. Hine's emerald dragonfly is on both the Illinois and Federal Endangered Species lists.
