America's First Family, President and Mrs. Dwight D.
Eisenhower
Glazed earthenware
Dwight D. Eisenhower was president of the United
States from 1953 to 1960. "Ike" had become a popular public figure
during World War II when he served as the leader of the Allied
forces in Europe. He is pictured here with his wife Mamie.
This plate continues the nineteenth-century tradition of depicting
popular people and events on decorative plates.
