![]() The Contract |
So Ollivier Daniel and Jean Baptiste Becquet, master locksmith from Kaskaskia, appeared before a notary and witnesses at Fort de Chartres. Ollivier was to do "everything the said Sieur Becquet shall order him, from cutting wood and working at the forge to anything else which he judges useful." For that he would be paid 950 livres in wages at the end of his year, but the shoes, the French shoes, were to be his at the arrival of the first convoy. Satisfied with the bargain, Ollivier made his mark, and the contract became official and binding. |
