Patent Models: The Rose Disk Harrow (1885)
In 1885, Henry Rose applied for a patent on improvements to his earlier harrows.
In this version, the improvements allowed the gang of disks to move in all directions to vary the obliquity (angle) to the line of draft and to follow the undulations of the ground without cramping or binding.
This was achieved through attaching eye-bolts on the inner ends of the gangs, through which were inserted hook-bars to couple the gang into place. This was connected to the frame by draw-bars and a connecting rod.
See the full diagrams of the harrow.
