Macramé jute

Macramé, tie-dye, multi-colored candles, and other hand-made crafts were the fashion during the seventies. A long macramé piece like this one is a combination wallhanging and plant-hanger. Dried flowers, pieces of wood, shells, ceramic beads, and other objects from nature were often incorporated into a pattern of macramé knots intended to be hung against a wall. Knotted plant hangers that could be suspended in front of a window were also popular. This macramé piece was received as a wedding gift by Irene and Steve Boyer of Springfield, Illinois.
